My name is Carolyn Payne, and I am very excited to be a member of the Esperanza community as Principal. I began my teaching career in 2002 as a Kindergarten teacher at Kyrene de la Sierra. I have also been the Literacy Coach at Kyrene de los Cerritos, Kyrene de la Estrella and Kyrene de las Lomas. Most recently, I was the Assistant Principal at Kyrene de la Mariposa.

I grew up in Tempe and decided to raise my family in the Ahwatukee area. I have three children all of whom attended Kyrene elementary and middle schools. Tiffany, is currently working on her nursing degree. D.J., is a graduate of ASU and is a SAP BOBJ developer and my youngest daughter Katie is working towards a retail marketing degree at U of A. You might say we are a house divided! My hobbies include cooking, traveling, reading, gardening, spending time with my family and volunteering with various organizations. I have two master’s degrees from ASU, the first in Curriculum and Instruction and the second in Leadership and Supervision.
